Tiisetso Dlamini

aka Jovla the Saint

As a DJ, Jovla has made waves both locally and abroad having held a set on Talk Radio 702’s evening House party with Tshego Modisane and in 2018 representing South Africa at the inaugural Golden Mix DJ conference held in Mauritius alongside DJs from across the globe.
Jovla The Saint was born from an appreciation of sound which culminated in working towards becoming a DJ. This appreciation of sound allows Jovla to rely almost solely on hearing for audio visualization creating smooth truly unique transitions on CDJs and turntables alike. Jovla is strongly rooted in the fundamentals of the craft and building from that something special is created.

“If house was a nation, I’d wanna be president”
An iconic line befitting one of the purest, most widely loved and iconic genres of our time.
Jovla is a house specialist even delving deeper into the sub genres of afro, tech, minimal, electronica and deep house. He is able to take this music, this sound and present it in a way that is truly unique.
However, as a lover of music Jovla created an alter ego, Mai Selector who covers different genres ranging from disco to funk and even soul music. He adds a different take to any genre he may take on.
THE SPECIALIST
.
Beyond all else, what makes Jovla unique is that he teaches others his craft. As an instructor he has taught over 150 aspiring DJs over 6 years. These students have included people from all walks of including some as young as nine years and even as old as 55.
These students include names you might have heard of such as Lalla Hirayama, Thomas Gumede and Palesa Masiteng.
It always comes down to understanding the fundementals, an understanding which Jovla has come to realise and share with others.
